Source: Cignetti's salary now averages $13.2M through 2033
"I couldn't be more proud to be a Hoosier,"
"The way that this state has embraced us and our success in football has meant more to me than anything else."
"'We're all-in, and going to continue to invest and make certain that we've got our priorities in line,' athletic director Scott Dolson told ESPN in October."
The contract pays Cignetti an average of $13.2 million annually through the 2033 season, up from $11.6 million after a market-review clause activated following the CFP semifinal. The review required a meeting within 120 days after the semifinal and an adjustment to place his salary no lower than third among active head coaches. The deal ties Cignetti with Georgia's Kirby Smart and LSU's Lane Kiffin as the only coaches earning at least $13 million. Cignetti's contract has been revised three times since his late-2023 arrival on a six-year, $27 million deal. He is 27-2, won the 2025 national title, and Indiana raised his buyout to $15 million while guaranteeing full remaining salary if fired without cause. Indiana also awarded multiyear contracts to coordinators Mike Shanahan and Bryant Haines, with Haines winning the Broyles Award.
