"Pieciak, of Glendale, had been initially charged with murder before pleading guilty to manslaughter in the first degree on Oct. 30. He was remanded to state custody after sentencing. Violent, vicious and evil' McNally's family watched the hearing via video link from Ireland as Assistant District Attorney Gabriel J. Reale read a victim-impact letter written on behalf of her parents, Dorie O'Connor and Dennis McNally, and the extended family."
Marcin Pieciak, 37, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for the March 2024 killing of 41-year-old Sarah McNally and received a negotiated sentence of 24 years. The fatal stabbing occurred inside the Ceili House pub in Maspeth as McNally prepared to return to Ireland after living in New York for a decade. Justice Ushir Pandit-Durant called the surveillance footage of the attack one of the most horrifying she had ever seen. Pieciak had initially faced murder charges before the manslaughter plea and was remanded to state custody after sentencing. McNally's parents and extended family delivered a victim-impact letter describing her close family bonds.
