Protesters Chain Themselves to Columbia Gates, Calling for Activists' Release
Briefly

Protestors chained themselves to the gates of Columbia University to demand the release of Palestinian student activists Mohsen Mahdawi and Mahmoud Khalil, who were detained by ICE. This protest follows Mahdawi's arrest during a naturalization appointment and Khalil's detention last month after organizing pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Demonstrators called for justice, reading Khalil’s writings aloud and displaying signages. While some were detained by NYPD, the university assured that campus activities were not disrupted by the protest, which was the second incident that month at the campus gates.
This small disruption has not impeded the ability of our students to attend classes as normal.
