Demonstrators gathered early to protest a reported federal immigration crackdown scheduled to begin in the Bay Area. Federal agents used vehicles to push through a line of marchers attempting to block the entrance to Coast Guard Island in Oakland. U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents pushed demonstrators and used pepper spray against protesters. Jorge Bautista, representing College Heights and the Presbyterian Church of San Francisco, was struck and pepper-sprayed in the face and was assisted by fellow demonstrators. Several protesters received aid from others after exposure to pepper spray and physical contact with agents at the island entrance.
