A federal grand jury indicted nine Salinas men on a racketeering conspiracy charge for promoting the Salinas Acosta Plaza Norteños gang through multiple crimes, including 11 murders, 14 attempted murders, and drug and gun distribution. The superseding indictment was filed Dec. 18 and unsealed today, and each defendant faces one count of racketeering conspiracy. Several defendants were part of an earlier indictment from April 2024. One defendant was arrested and arraigned this morning; the remaining defendants were already in federal or state custody. The gang originated in the Acosta Plaza townhome complex and operates as a clique within larger Norteño criminal street gangs.
