"Looking at it, it gives me an idea of what the experience at a real NFL field looks like."
"To see what it looks like now to what it looked like when I played here is a surreal moment for me and my family and everybody included,"
"This is how I learned to be selfless. I mean, this is the same exact field that has gotten me to where I'm at today. I learned the fundamentals of football right here."
Elected officials, professional athletes and students gathered to celebrate the refurbished Los Robles-Ronald McNair sports field near the Boys and Girls Club in East Palo Alto. The field is regulation size for football and can also be used for soccer. The renovation cost $5.5 million and was funded by donations. Former youth players including NFL athletes Mekhi Blackmon and brothers Rejzohn and Nahshon Wright returned and credited the field with teaching teamwork, fundamentals and selflessness. Local students described the field as inspiring and like an authentic NFL experience for youth in the community.
