At Harvard's commencement, graduates expressed strong support for international students, addressing the school's conflict with President Trump regarding enrollment policies. Many students believed that diversity must be preserved and that Harvard's educational opportunities should be accessible to all. However, while on-the-record commentary was difficult to obtain from international and Jewish students due to concerns of backlash, some insights emerged. One Jewish international student felt that the administration's efforts were aimed at creating a safer environment, suggesting a need for inclusive dialogue amidst ongoing tensions involving allegations of anti-Semitism and racial bias.
You don't control Harvard. It's not a dictatorship. This is education at its highest form. So this needs to be accessible to everyone.
I fully believe that we need to protect our diversity and make sure that international students are welcome and supported here at Harvard.
It would be a disservice to what Harvard offers to the world to interrupt enrollment of students from abroad.
My personal feeling was that the administration is trying to do things to get us more, feel more comfortable and be more safe in our place.
