Fifteen grants across three New York State broadband programs will connect 6,900 locations, reaching about 24,000 households, businesses, and anchor institutions. The awards total $52.6 million and include connectivity for 19,000 affordable housing units. The projects will create 234 miles of fiber and 46 wireless hubs. Funding was allocated through the Municipal Infrastructure Program, the Affordable Housing Connectivity Program, and the Deployment Program County Partnerships. Selected recipients include Southern Tier Network; Madison County in partnership with Empire Access; Wyoming County Finger Lakes in partnership with Community Broadband Networks; and ErieNet Local Development Corporation. Multiple regional affordable housing partnerships also received awards.
