Nantucket seagull apparently smashes car window with clam
"Heather Woodbury, general manager at Wicked Island Bakery, was surprised to find the rear windshield of her car smashed in Wednesday morning, according to Nantucket Current. She had no idea who would do such a thing, but when Nantucket police arrived on the scene a short time later, they realized they couldn't cuff this culprit. The suspect, Officer Mike Mastriano said, was a seagull, the Current reported."
"By the look of things, it had attempted to drop a quahog from high above and crack it on the pavement for a meal, but instead, it was the windshield that ended up cracked. Sure enough, police found a hard-shell clam in the back seat of Woodbury's car. Even stranger, the feathery fiend just might be a repeat offender, according to the Current."
"The same seagull allegedly stole a wallet belonging to former Nantucket Airport manager Noah Karberg in a Stop & Shop parking lot in August 2024. Evidently, the seagull still hasn't been brought to justice, but Nantucket police will remain on the lookout."

The bird likely attempted to drop a quahog from height to crack it open and instead shattered the windshield. The same seagull allegedly stole a wallet belonging to former Nantucket Airport manager Noah Karberg in a Stop & Shop parking lot in August 2024. Officers note the bird cannot be arrested and will remain on the lookout.
