Two Microsoft employees, Riki Fameli and Anna Hattle, were fired after joining a group of seven protesters who entered Vice Chair Brad Smith’s office in Building 34 and livestreamed the sit-in on Twitch. The protesters demanded that Microsoft cut ties with the Israeli government, prompting a temporary lockdown of the executive building and multiple arrests, including former Microsoft and Google employees. A Microsoft spokesperson said the firings followed "serious breaches of company policies and our code of conduct." Brad Smith held an emergency press conference and said Microsoft is "committed to ensuring its human rights principles and contractual terms of service are upheld in the Middle East."
