A 32-year-old man, Alain McDonald of Randolph, was arrested and charged with two counts of armed and masked robbery with a firearm. The robberies occurred at AI Prime gas station on Union Street Saturday evening and at Prestige gas station on N. Main Street Tuesday afternoon. The suspect was reported to be wearing a black mask and carrying a semiautomatic handgun; he fled on foot during the first incident and allegedly left the second scene in a gray Hyundai Elantra. Two police cruisers collided while searching for the suspect, sending two officers to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Prestige reported about $400 stolen during the Tuesday robbery. Randolph police identified McDonald as a suspect in a Quincy armed robbery, and the Quincy Police Department and the FBI Violent Crime Task Force assisted in the investigation.
Randolph police responded to the AI Prime gas station at 304 Union St. for a report of an armed robbery on Saturday around 8:15 p.m., the department said. The suspect, later identified as McDonald, was reported to have been wearing a black mask and was carrying a semiautomatic handgun. He fled on foot, according to police.
He is also a suspect in an armed robbery in Quincy. "The Randolph Police Department would like to thank the Quincy Police Department and the FBI Violent Crime Task Force for their assistance during this investigation," Randolph Police Chief Marag said in a statement. "The professionalism of our officers, the hard work of our detectives and their teamwork with our fellow law enforcement agencies resulted in a dangerous criminal being taken off the streets."
