Freeman Locklin Short, 31, was a crewmember on the fishing vessel Lily Jean and was lost at sea on January 30, 2026; his body was never recovered. In 2002 his family moved to Presque Isle, Maine, where he formed lifelong friendships, learned skiing, cross-country running, and hunting, and graduated Presque Isle High School in 2013. He was known for intelligence, kindness, sharp wit, and a gift for connecting with others. He served in the Maine Army National Guard and graduated from the University of Maine in 2018 with a degree in Financial Economics; he briefly attended law school.
