In Macon County, Alabama, a kangaroo named Sheila caused a stir on Interstate 85 after escaping from her enclosure. The incident occurred around 11:50 a.m. on April 29, with video capturing the kangaroo hopping along the highway. Law enforcement temporarily shut down the interstate for safety, and Sheila's owner, local rancher Patrick Starr, was contacted. Sheriff Andre Brunson was astonished by the situation, documenting the chase, as Starr attempted to tranquilize the kangaroo. Fortunately, the kangaroo was recovered safely, and no injuries were reported.
When somebody said there was a kangaroo, of course I didn't believe him, and nobody believed him, Sheriff Brunson says. But I'm looking at him.
The kangaroo's owner, Patrick Starr, was also called to the scene. Mr. Starr runs Choctafaula Ranch... although the kangaroo was a private pet, he said.
