Jersey Shore communities brace for another round of coastal flooding during high tide Monday afternoon
"Those living in or visiting the Jersey Shore on Sunday felt the impacts of the coastal storm system the hardest. The storm pounded the shore, causing coastal flooding that filled the streets with inches of water and brought heavy winds, which caused power outages. While floodwaters slightly receded down the shore Monday morning due to low tide, the upcoming high tide brings yet another fresh round of coastal flooding concerns."
"The next round of high tide will arrive in the mid-to-late afternoon, between 1 and 2 p.m. on Monday. Our NEXT Weather team said we can expect another round of major coastal flooding on our Atlantic and Ocean County beaches, and even on parts of our Cape May County beaches. Select areas in Cape May County and the Delaware beaches have been downgraded a bit to moderate coastal flooding ahead of the high tide this afternoon."
South Jersey continues to experience impacts from a nor'easter as the storm slowly moves out of the Philadelphia region. The Jersey Shore suffered coastal flooding, streets with inches of water, and heavy winds that caused power outages. Floodwaters receded during Monday morning's low tide, but a high tide between 1 and 2 p.m. Monday threatens another round of major coastal flooding on Atlantic, Ocean, and parts of Cape May County beaches. Select Cape May and Delaware beaches face moderate flooding. The next high tide cycle could raise water 3 to 4 feet above normal, covering roads with 2 to 3 feet of water and prompting likely road closures and potential water rescues. North Wildwood has high-water vehicles and crews standing by. Atlantic City tidal readings provided include Sunday afternoon at 6.43 feet and Monday morning at 6.04 feet.
