IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi has cautioned that an Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities might reinforce Tehran's resolve to develop nuclear weapons. As diplomatic efforts stall, Grossi highlighted warnings from Iranian officials regarding the repercussions of military action. He does not foresee Israel launching such an attack but pointed out the extensive and fortified nature of Iran's nuclear program. Meanwhile, Iran is formulating a counterproposal to the U.S. concerning a new nuclear deal, expressing dissatisfaction with recent U.S. offers and labeling the IAEA's reports as biased.
Grossi expressed concern that an Israeli strike could "solidify Iran's determination to pursue a nuclear weapon" or push them to withdraw from the NPT.
He emphasized, "The Iranian programme runs wide and deep. Many of these facilities are extremely well-protected, requiring overwhelming and devastating force to disrupt them."
