How SFPD's new investigation center is 'catching criminals faster' using 400 cameras, drones
"Our growing network of cameras that are part of our public and private partnerships. Provide valuable evidence to solve crime and catch suspects in real time"
"Criminals, people that commit crimes. We're catching them faster,"
"Law enforcement often has lots of different systems. Lots of different places where information may sit. They need that information at their fingertips. Peregrine glues all those together bring it into one place,"
"Should we have an earthquake. We can send one of our members to this location and they can view the videos with the use of the drones and identify whether our streets are passable,"
San Francisco opened the Real-Time Investigation Center (R-TIC) to centralize surveillance and coordination for public safety. SFPD investigators can access 400 license plate reader cameras and more than 60 drones to detect and follow vehicles tied to criminal activity, enabling faster arrests and precise officer deployment. The center coordinates with East Bay and other agencies during active investigations. Fire and emergency teams use drone footage to assess damage and determine street passability after earthquakes or fires. Peregrine Technologies integrates disparate law enforcement systems into one interface. Since opening in August, the center's operations have led to at least 800 arrests.
