House Republicans approve amendment authorizing the sale of federal lands
Briefly

House Republicans have approved an amendment that permits the sale of extensive federal public land in Nevada and Utah, states known for federal ownership of land. The amendment aims to facilitate affordable housing development on land managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management, particularly around Las Vegas, Reno, and St. George. Proponents argue federal land impedes local development, while opponents, including Democrats and environmentalists, view this as part of a radical agenda to transfer public lands to private interests.
Many of the difficulties we face at a local level are of course related to the fact that the county is surrounded by federal land.
The high percentage of federal lands impacts the local government's ability to work on economic and transportation development.
We're seeing from this administration is no balance at all.
