Denny Hamlin wrecked teammate Ty Gibbs at New Hampshire after Gibbs would not yield, prompting internal talks at Joe Gibbs Racing. Hamlin is playoff-eligible and pursuing his first Cup Series championship; Gibbs, the team owner’s grandson, is not eligible for the title. Teammates stressed that drivers should not wreck each other and must respect one another late in the season. Chase Briscoe won the Kansas pole and will start beside Hamlin, and Kyle Larson said Gibbs raced a title contender too aggressively early in the prior race.
