GB's Skupski & Salisbury suffer heartbreak in final
"I am starting to dislike you guys!"
"We seem to be bumping into each other all the time. Why not make it Australia? We will go again."
Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski missed three championship points and lost the US Open men's doubles final 3-6 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 to Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. Salisbury and Skupski aimed to become the first all‑British pair to win at Flushing Meadows since 1903 and to claim their first major together. Granollers and Zeballos had also beaten them in the French Open final earlier this year. The Englishmen, who teamed up at the start of 2025, won the opening set after breaking at 5-3. Salisbury faltered in the second-set tie-break, and poor returns at 5-4 in the third squandered three championship points before Granollers closed out victory.
