From Maynard to MAYEnard: Mass. town to change name for Drake Maye on Super Bowl Sunday
"It's really exciting for our community to get the name of our small, little town out there."
"It's just a positive vibe in a time in our world when we need some positivity."
"The whole thing is intended to be a community celebration of the Patriots making it to the Super Bowl and having fun with the name of our town."
"I don't think anybody ever expected the response that it has gotten."
The town of Maynard, Massachusetts plans a one-day name change to "MAYEnard" on Feb. 8 as New England heads to Super Bowl LX. The temporary rebrand requires Select Board approval and targets a community celebration tied to quarterback Drake Maye, an MVP finalist and two-time Pro Bowl selection who helped lead the Patriots to a 14-3 regular-season record and an AFC Championship. Maynard has about 10,000 residents and is located west of Boston. Local businesses are participating and initial reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Nearby Massachusetts towns have previously used temporary renames to attract attention and celebrate community moments.
