"A former Burlington High School wrestling coach has been convicted for sending sexually explicit messages and photos to an undercover agent posing as a minor, according to prosecutors. Stephen Lemelin, 51, of Burlington, was found guilty Wednesday on three counts of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts said in a statement."
"Lemelin was arrested and charged in May 2024 and indicted by a federal grand jury the following month. Over the course of five months, the former coach sent sexually explicit messages and obscene images over Kik messenger to an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl, prosecutors said. Lemelin sent three separate photos of his genitals and proposed meeting in person for sex."
Stephen Lemelin, 51, of Burlington, was found guilty on three counts of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor. He sent sexually explicit messages and obscene images over Kik messenger to an undercover officer who was posing as a 14-year-old girl over five months. Lemelin sent three separate photos of his genitals and proposed meeting in person for sex. He was arrested and charged in May 2024 and was indicted by a federal grand jury the following month. Lemelin faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for March 26, 2026.
