Homeland Security declined to file human labor trafficking charges related to allegations against Anza-based Olivet University, allowing a civil lawsuit by four former students to proceed. The lawsuit had been stayed since April 2024 pending a criminal probe by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). A status report states an HSI agent informed parties that no charges will be filed against Olivet or affiliated individuals arising from the plaintiffs' claims, and that no investigations requiring a stay exist. Four former students allege they were forced to work without pay after arriving on full scholarships; Olivet denies wrongdoing. A 2021 search warrant remains under seal.
