""Shock and honor," said Diane Bradley. "I just wanted them to let go of my dog." Bradley said she was returning home from a walk when the two pit bulls attacked her 3-year-old dog, named Calypso. "The first dog had Calypso's head in its mouth and was clamping down," said Bradley. "Calypso went limp." Cellphone video showed the aftermath of the attack, which includes a man hitting the pit bulls."
""I was shaken up from my previous incident where my dog was attacked by the same dogs," said Leshia Palmer, who witnessed the attack. Palmer also said her dog was attacked back in May, and one month later, the same pit bulls are accused of killing another dog. Tenants said the pit bulls are often seen off-leash both in and out of the building."
""We are aware of the incident and are actively investigating what occurred. The safety and well-being of our residents-and their pets- are our top priorities, and we are taking this matter very seriously." "No one feels safe walking their dogs," said Palmer. "I'm very dubious," said Bradley. "I'm very afraid." Bradley said Calypso received several stitches, suffered a fractured shoulder and may lose sight in one eye."
The attack occurred Sunday morning on West 29th Street in a Coney Island apartment building when two unleashed pit bulls mauled a 3-year-old French bulldog named Calypso. Cellphone video shows a man striking the pit bulls, and witnesses identify that man as the dogs' owner. Residents report prior attacks by the same pit bulls, including an attack in May and an unrelated dog fatality a month later. Tenants report the dogs are often off-leash in and outside the building. Calypso received stitches, a fractured shoulder, and may lose sight in one eye. Police and the Department of Health are investigating and property management reported it is investigating.
