Ex-Michigan staffer Stalions' show-cause penalty appeal denied
"irregular and prejudicial way in which the case started"
"irreparably prejudiced Mr. Stalions and negatively influenced the NCAA's subsequent investigation of this case."
"We find that the record clearly supports that procedures were followed in relation to cases that originated with a confidential source and the hearing panel relied only on corroborating information when making its determinations,"
Connor Stalions, a former Michigan football analyst under Jim Harbaugh, received an eight-year NCAA show-cause penalty for overseeing a signal-stealing operation. The infractions committee found he led efforts to collect cellphone videos of opponent signals during the 2021–2023 seasons. Stalions appealed, alleging an irregular and prejudicial start, misapplication of a bylaw on off-campus, in-person scouting, inability to test confidential sources, and that enforcement staff shared information with the Big Ten that prejudiced the case. The Division I Infractions Appeals Committee denied the appeal after deliberating twice, finding the record supported procedures and corroborating information.
