"A New York man who admitted to fatally stabbing his estranged wife, NYPD Transit Officer Arianna Reyes-Gomez, was sentenced to 24 years in prison on Thursday, Feb. 19. Argenis Baez, 37, pleaded guilty last month to first-degree manslaughter in the 2022 killing. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced in a press release that Baez will also serve five years of post-release supervision following his sentence."
"She was the mother of Baez's 3-year-old son. On the evening of June 12, 2022, Baez was loitering outside her apartment building on Sedgwick Avenue, the release states. After watching her enter the building with a man and waiting for that man to leave, Baez then went inside and attacked her. He stabbed her in the chest, leg and back before walking out of the apartment holding a knife in his right hand, according to the release."
Argenis Baez, 37, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the June 2022 killing of NYPD Transit Officer Arianna Reyes-Gomez. Baez was sentenced on Feb. 19 to 24 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision. Reyes-Gomez, 31, was stabbed eight times inside her Bronx apartment in the early morning hours of June 13, 2022. She was the mother of Baez's 3-year-old son. On June 12, Baez loitered outside her apartment building, watched her enter with another man, waited for that man to leave, then entered and attacked her. Baez surrendered later that day.
