DOGE Loses Battle to Take Over USIP-and Its $500 Million Headquarters
Briefly

A district court ruled in favor of the former board and staff of the US Institute of Peace (USIP) after their unlawful removal by DOGE affiliates. Judge Beryl Howell’s opinion deemed actions taken post-removal as void, barring DOGE and several government officials from controlling the institute's resources. The case stemmed from a February executive order calling USIP unnecessary, leading to the abrupt dismissal of board members and attempts by DOGE to seize control, culminating in this legal rebuke.
The purported removal of members of the Board of Directors of the United States Institute of Peace ("USIP") ... was unlawful, and therefore null, void, and without legal effect.
The ruling caps off one of the most dramatic chapters in DOGE's government takeover so far, also being one of the fullest repudiations yet of DOGE overreach.
