DNA testing shows police found remains connected to Kada Scott: Sources
"The discovery was made behind a vacant school near Awbury Arboretum in Germantown, an area that was the focus of an intensive search on Wednesday. First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford said a "very specific" anonymous tip came in overnight, and officers were back out at the scene around 10 a.m. Sources also tell Action News they recovered surveillance video evidence linked to the case at a nearby Recreation Center."
"The remains, which Stanford said appeared to be those of a female, were found in a shallow grave in a heavily wooded area. The remains are now being handled by the medical examiner's office, which will also handle identifying the person who was found. Stanford said investigators have been in touch with Scott's family. "We have been in communication with her family as to this process and in the fact that we have recovered a human being," he said."
Law enforcement recovered human remains behind a vacant school near Awbury Arboretum in Germantown after a "very specific" anonymous tip prompted renewed searching. The remains, believed to be female and found in a shallow grave in a heavily wooded area, were removed and turned over to the medical examiner for DNA testing and formal identification. Initial DNA findings connect the remains to Kada Scott's parents. Investigators recovered surveillance footage and physical items including Scott's debit card and a phone case at nearby locations. Keon King, 21, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and other offenses. Authorities request public tips at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
