Sean "Diddy" Combs was acquitted of the most serious charges in his criminal trial, including racketeering and sex trafficking two women. His family erupted in cheers as the verdict was announced, demonstrating evident excitement and support. Despite being found guilty on two lesser charges, he will not face a life sentence but could receive up to 20 years in prison. Judge Arun Subramanian indicated that a decision on Combs' release pending sentencing would be made later in the day, following two days of jury deliberations and six weeks of trial.
After about two days of tense jury deliberations and six weeks of trial testimony, jurors acquitted Combs on Wednesday morning of three of the most serious counts against him, for racketeering and for sex trafficking two women. They found him guilty of two lesser charges. Combs, who is 55 years old, could still be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, but was no longer facing the prospect of a life sentence.
As the verdict was read, Combs' family barely restrained their excitement and erupted in cheers afterward. Combs knelt as if in prayer before telling his family, 'I'm gonna be home soon.' The family members filled two rows of seats in the courtroom and chanted, 'Dream team! Dream team!' in jubilation.
