Whisper Owen, 36, and her infant daughter Sandra McCarty, missing for over a month, were discovered deceased in a submerged vehicle in Central California. The car, a silver 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, was identified by a sonar search team in a canal located about 25 miles southeast of Stockton. Owen and her daughter had last been seen in Fresno on July 15 after a routine checkup. Family members confirmed the identities of the deceased once the vehicle was retrieved from the water, marking a tragic end to a desperate search.

On Sunday morning, a search team contacted the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, confirming they found an SUV in a canal that matched Owen's vehicle.
The vehicle was found beneath a bridge over the canal at Highway 120 and Victory Ave., about 60 miles from Elk Grove.
Jared Leisek stated that his organization located Sandra McCarty and Whisper Owen with sonar, pinned under a bridge in the silver Trailblazer SUV.
