Dense fog advisory affecting Delta until Thursday morning 1/4 mile visibility
"Carquinez Strait and Delta, Northern Sacramento Valley, Central Sacramento Valley, Southern Sacramento Valley and Northern San Joaquin Valley are the focus of a dense fog advisory issued at 3:27 a.m. on Thursday by the National Weather Service. The advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. The NWS Sacramento CA says to prepare for, Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog. Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous, the NWS said."
"If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you. Guidance from the NWS for navigating foggy conditions When a dense fog advisory is issued for your area, it means that widespread dense fog has developed and visibility can plummet to a quarter-mile or less. These conditions pose challenges for travel, so exercise extra caution on the road or consider postponing your trip if possible."
"If driving in fog becomes unavoidable, remember these safety tips: Moderate your speed: Slow down and allocate extra travel time to reach your destination safely. Visibility matters: Ensure your vehicle is visible to others by using low-beam headlights, which also activate your taillights. If available, employ your fog lights. Avoid high-beams: Refrain from using high-beam lights, as they create glare, making it more difficult for you to see what's ahead of you on the road."
A dense fog advisory covers Carquinez Strait and Delta, Northern, Central, and Southern Sacramento Valley, plus Northern San Joaquin Valley until 10 a.m. Visibility can drop to one-quarter mile or less, significantly reducing sight distance. Low visibility increases the risk of hazardous driving conditions and requires extra caution. Motorists should slow down, use low-beam headlights and fog lights if available, and maintain generous following distance. Avoid using high-beam lights to prevent glare. In near-zero visibility, activate hazard lights and pull into a safe parking area or as far off the roadway as possible.
