During a traffic stop on the Esplanade, which considered Burning Man's "main street" and serves as the divider between the man sculpture and the event's many themed camps, officers performed a "probable cause search" at 2:05 a.m. Monday. They found not only a variety of drugs but also "items which would show an intent to sell or distribute said illicit substances."
The Burning Man Project's page on " specific laws to be aware of " highlights that at the event, "The possession of large quantities or a variety of drugs may be interpreted as evidence of intent to distribute or trafficking, a serious felony offense." Having guns or other weapons, and discharging them, is also prohibited at the event, except in very specific instances.
