Circus Circus revives long-gone game on the Vegas Strip
"Last week, Circus Circus debuted Lucky's Bingo Room, billing it as a return to "old school Vegas." The last Strip casino with bingo was the Riviera. The Riviera was already in financial distress when it revived bingo in an unused meeting room in 2012. At that time, it had been years since a casino operated a bingo hall on the Strip. Because its revenue potential is much lower than table games or slot machines, it fell out of favor in the modern era."
"As the price of a Vegas vacation continues to rise - and visitor numbers keep dropping - Circus Circus is betting on bingo as an appealing cheaper alternative. Bingo will be held on Thursdays through Sundays, with five sessions beginning at 3 p.m. A full session pass costs $30, and payouts start at $50. To make things even more old school, they're using paper bingo cards and daubers."
"Don't expect any vintage Vegas glamor to accompany the experience though. The bingo room is being held on the second floor, near the Adventuredome, and it's basically a lightly repurposed conference room. Food options are appropriately cheap: popcorn, pretzels and $2 hot dogs. You must be 21 or older to enter the bingo hall. After all, it is still considered gaming by the state of Nevada."
Circus Circus opened Lucky's Bingo Room on the Las Vegas Strip as a low-cost gaming option. The last Strip bingo hall was at the Riviera, which revived bingo in 2012 while financially distressed and closed the hall in 2015. Bingo declined because revenue is lower than table games or slots, halls need large footprints, and the game's association with retirees discouraged executives. Circus Circus aims to lure budget-minded visitors amid rising vacation costs and falling visitation. Bingo runs Thursday through Sunday with five sessions starting at 3 p.m.; full-session passes cost $30 and payouts start at $50. The venue uses paper cards and daubers, sits in a repurposed conference room near the Adventuredome, sells inexpensive snacks, and admits patrons 21 and older.
