Seven firefighters were injured, with five treated for serious burns to their arms and faces. The blaze spread rapidly through trash and ignited adjacent vehicles before being brought under control around 8:19 p.m. Injured firefighters were transported to Jacobi Hospital by EMS. The FDNY warned to never flick cigarette butts and to fully extinguish cigarettes before disposal.
