"It's been very turbulent, and equally terrifying with each development that comes," Mahmoud told Al Jazeera, speaking from her college dormitory in Washington, DC.
"The recent border control policies and expanded social media screenings are causing many international students to feel they need to stay under the radar to avoid deportation."
Fanta Aw emphasizes the significance of international students, stating their contributions are vital to cultural exchange and the US economy.
Despite representing just 5.6% of the total student population, international students contributed significantly by creating 378,175 jobs nationwide.
