"I've never seen inside someone's foot like that. It was just totally exposed, bone and tendon,"
"That's when I was like, oh my god, this is f-king serious. Thank god I didn't actually witness it. Neither did my kids."
"unrecognizable"
James "JP" Patrick was struck by a Tesla Cybertruck art car on the final night of Burning Man after he sat on the desert floor to meditate at sunset. Both of his feet were crushed, exposing bone and tendon, and he required airlift to Reno for emergency surgery. His wife Jade and their twin 13-year-old sons were nearby but did not witness the impact; Jade described the injuries as totally exposed bone and tendon. Burning Man operates a licensing program for "Mutant Vehicles" or art cars; a 2014 art-car incident previously caused a fatality. JP stabilized after surgery and flew home; a GoFundMe was organized to cover medical expenses for the family of four children.
