Brooklyn man wanted for NJ murder arrested in Spain after year on the run
"A Brooklyn man wanted in connection with a 2025 fatal shooting in New Jersey has been arrested in Spain, officials said Thursday. Felix De La Cruz-Arias, 30, was taken into custody by the Spanish National Police in Barcelona on Jan. 30, after being on the run for nearly a year, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement. He's currently being held in a correctional facility in Spain, awaiting extradition to the U.S."
"De La Cruz-Arias is accused of fatally shooting 32-year-old Josue Hiraldo-Peralta on the night of March 12, 2025, prosecutors said. Camden police responded to the 300 block of Morse Street around 10:30 p.m. for reports of gunfire. Hiraldo-Peralta was found on the ground with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said. A second gunshot victim, a 28-year-old man from Camden, was found in a nearby residence."
"Both men were taken to Cooper University Hospital, where Hiraldo-Peralta was pronounced dead a short time later. On April 4, De La Cruz-Arias was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder for the double shooting. His arrest overseas - nearly a year after his alleged crimes in South Jersey - was the result of a joint effort involving Camden police, homicide detectives with the prosecutor's office, Spanish law enforcement, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Justice Department's Office of International Affairs."
