"Seeing his interactions brought me to tears,"
"He was asking kids' names, he was taking selfies with them. They were asking him questions, and he was answering them all while riding a bike."
"He just had an awesome attitude and was super present, singing along with the kids and really just taking in the experience."
Over 100 Portland elementary students were escorted home on a bike bus by singer Benson Boone, who engaged warmly by asking names, taking selfies, answering questions, singing and riding a bike. Sam Balto, physical education teacher and Bike Bus World co-founder, said Boone’s interactions were moving. Bike buses group children who ride to school together with parent drivers to guide them and advocate for better infrastructure and funding. Bike Bus World supports starting and sustaining bike buses; there are bike buses in 30 states and over 400 worldwide. Music and bubbles create joyful ride environments. A social-media video inviting Boone drew thousands of likes and tags and prompted his manager to respond before a nearby concert.
