""I've got my kids in the car," Franklin said."
""I ain't playing with you," McBride responded."
""Everything I know about this incident now reinforces that we did not do enough to help her," he said."
Rashanda Franklin, 29, reported stalking by her ex-boyfriend Lawyer Dushan McBride on April 3, 2017; Richmond police responded, found McBride trying to enter her home, took a report and left. Less than 24 hours later Franklin was followed while dropping off two young children, pursued, and cut off at an intersection where McBride exited his vehicle and shot her in the torso with her children in the backseat. A bystander filmed Franklin bleeding to death; police arrested McBride later that week. Family members and a former Richmond police captain criticized the police response. McBride, now 51, was sentenced to 95.
