"According to the coroner in Chelan County, an autopsy of Travis Decker's body cannot be done based on what little remains of him. Because of this, answers as to when and how he died will likely never be known, the coroner said. Officials said the torso and cranium have not been found, and no biological tissue remained. The coroner said, based on the length of time he was dead, the summer weather and animal activity, not much of his bones remained."
"Both the DNA on clothing and human remains found on Sept. 18 came back as a "positive match for Travis Decker," Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison announced on Thursday. "We hope that you can rest easy at night knowing that Mr. Decker is accounted for," Morrison said. The remains were found during a search south of Leavenworth, the Chelan County Sheriff's Office announced on Sept. 18."
Human remains found near a remote wooded area were positively identified as Travis Decker. The coroner said an autopsy cannot be done because only limited remains were recovered. As a result, cause and timing of death will likely remain unknown. Officials reported the torso and cranium were not found and no biological tissue remained. Decomposition from summer weather and animal activity left little of his bones. The remains were found in five areas and both clothing DNA and bones matched Decker. Decker was wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree kidnapping in connection to his three daughters' deaths.
