As hunt for accused murderer continues in Adirondacks, police give warning: 'Do not approach'
"The search for the 53-year-old man started Sunday morning after the body of his girlfriend, Amanda Rodriguez, was found inside the home the couple shared at 4 Earl Lynn Court in Cohoes, a quiet town in the Capital Region, according to statements from the New York State Police and Cohoes Mayor Bill Keeler. Rodriguez died after being stabbed repeatedly in the chest, WNYT reported."
"After Rodriguez's death, Bechand fled his Cohoes home in a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, the New York State Police said. He then headed north, driving about 147 miles to Franklin County in the Adirondacks, troopers said. His truck was found abandoned on County Route 60 (Rainbow Road/Burt La Fountain Road) at the intersection of County Route 86 in Brighton, about 4 minutes east of Paul Smith's College."
"Cohoes Police Chief Todd Waldin told the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that Bechand has ties to the Franklin County area and may have previously lived near Ray Brook. On Tuesday afternoon, the Cohoes Police Department asked the public for help finding Bechand. In particular, police said investigators wanted to hear from anyone who had seen Bechand or a person matching his description in the Ray Brook area from Saturday to the present."
