America is marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a yearlong slate of commemorations, festivals, sporting events and ceremonies concentrated around July 3–4. Major celebrations in the Northeast include dozens of events in Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, D.C., such as the Philadelphia Flower Show, FIFA Fan Festival, Wawa Welcome America, Macy's fireworks, the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade, and Smithsonian and Cherry Blossom activities. Events span from late winter through December, and include professional sports, historical reenactments, concerts, parades, prayer jubilees, and community block parties.
