Amber Ruffin co-wrote Bigfoot! The Musical with Kevin Sciretta, an original off-Broadway show about a kindhearted Bigfoot who longs for community amid a corrupt mayor and gullible townspeople. Ruffin began writing the musical in 2014 and shaped the protagonist to represent anyone who has been othered, envisioning Bigfoot as a Black woman, a trans person, LGBTQ people, and an immigrant. Ruffin maintains a broad comedic career that includes television appearances, improv work in the U.S. and Europe, two books, two Broadway revivals, and long-term work on Late Night with Seth Meyers. After George Floyd's murder in 2020, Ruffin shared personal encounters with police on Late Night. At 47, Ruffin expresses gratitude for professional support and success.
