""With the cold temps, the alligator had very low chances of surviving. With some luck and a couple of bright flashlights after 15 minutes I found the Boston alligator," he wrote alongside photos of the animal."
""a new resident and ambassador""
""I'm an animal lover and raised reptiles for years. Had been thinking about this. There was no way this little guy was making it if he stayed there. Glad he was found and will be brought somewhere more suitable!""
Multiple people reported sightings of a small alligator in the Charles River Esplanade, prompting concern about its survival in cold temperatures. Animal educator Joseph Kenney, who operates Joe's Crazzy Critters, received location information from NBC10 Boston and searched at night. After about 15 minutes using bright flashlights, Kenney found and took possession of the alligator. The animal was warmed and secured and is expected to become a resident and ambassador at Kenney's facility. MassWildlife coordinated with Boston Animal Care and Control and the Massachusetts Environmental Police during the search. Keeping crocodilians as pets is illegal in Massachusetts, and online commenters expressed relief at the rescue.
