""He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset,""
""He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests.""
""Hey, you will not push them into the traffic,""
""He's got a gun, he's got a gun, he's got a gun""
Alex Pretti was a 37-year-old ICU nurse employed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, a competitive cyclist, and a U.S. citizen with no criminal history. He previously worked as a research scientist at the University of Minnesota Medical School before returning to school to become a registered nurse. He began attending Minneapolis protests after an ICE agent shot Renee Nicole Good. While filming a protest encounter, a Border Patrol agent shoved protesters and Pretti, sprayed him with pepper spray, and multiple agents tackled him, with one repeatedly striking his head. Video shows an agent appearing to take a gun from Pretti's waistband before walking away as audio captures bystanders shouting that he had a gun. The Trump administration labeled him an "assassin" and a "domestic terrorist."
