A US Navy aircraft carrier in the Red Sea fight just lost a third Super Hornet. The $60 million jet went overboard on landing.
Briefly

On Tuesday, an F/A-18 Super Hornet fell off the USS Harry S. Truman into the Red Sea after a landing mishap, marking the third jet loss in its deployment. The incident, confirmed by a US defense official, involved a failed recovery arrestment, although both aviators ejected safely and were rescued with minor injuries. This follows previous mishaps, including an earlier jet and a tow tractor loss, and a collision with a commercial vessel that resulted in the firing of the Truman's commanding officer.
Both the aviators safely ejected and were rescued by an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter. The aviators were evaluated by medical personnel and assessed to have minor injuries.
It's unclear what exactly failed during Tuesday's recovery. Navy aircraft carriers have catapults for launch and arresting gear for recovery.
