"designed to be able to conduct short and long-distance trips with no action required by the person in the driver's seat."
"cannot fully rely"
An administrative judge recommended suspending Tesla's licenses to sell and manufacture in California after finding Tesla may have misled consumers about vehicle self-driving capabilities. The California DMV placed a 90-day stay on the proposed 30-day sales suspension to allow Tesla time to amend its advertising language. The DMV declined to pursue a manufacturing suspension during the stay. The agency's 2022 complaint cites Tesla website language claiming FSD could conduct short and long-distance trips with no action required from the driver. Tesla denies concealing limitations and says buyers were informed they "cannot fully rely" on FSD or Autopilot. The proposed decision will be released December 22.
