9 indicted for 'increasingly violent' 17-day crime spree in Suffolk and elsewhere
"If you are going to commit crimes, either outside of Suffolk County, to come into Suffolk County, or based in Suffolk County ... it doesn't matter. We are going to work with our law enforcement partners to hold you responsible."
"As the investigation evolved, we quickly discovered that these Suffolk County incidents were not isolated, rather, they were part of a larger organized enterprise that was carrying out coordinated criminal acts, not just here in Suffolk County, but elsewhere."
Nine defendants, including Savion Jones and Leny Cruz, face 38 counts including conspiracy and various burglary charges following a coordinated crime spree in July and August 2025. The investigation revealed the ring operated across multiple jurisdictions: Suffolk County, the Hudson Valley, and Florida. The criminal enterprise began with break-ins at auto-body shops, then escalated to armed carjackings and residential burglaries. Seven defendants are bail-eligible and scheduled for court appearances next month, while Jones and Cruz remain ineligible for bail. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney emphasized law enforcement's commitment to prosecuting criminals regardless of jurisdiction, announcing the indictment alongside multiple agencies including Suffolk County Police, State Police, NYPD, and federal agents.
