Is there a new pope?
Briefly

Following the death of Pope Francis, the election for a new pope is set to commence within 15 to 20 days. A conclave, led by either the dean of cardinals or, in this case, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the secretary of state, gathers eligible cardinals under 80 in the Sistine Chapel. They utilize secret ballots, with voting capped at four per day, and require a two-thirds majority to succeed. If no candidate wins after multiple votes, a run-off occurs to select the new pope.
