Introducing a New Project to Track Polls
Briefly

The New York Times is launching a new project to track public opinion surveys, focusing initially on President Trump's job approval ratings. This initiative aims to provide context and clarity to a complex information environment characterized by both an increase in the number of public polls and the decline of trusted pollsters. Over time, The Times plans to include more types of polls, such as those for upcoming governor's races and congressional elections, aiming to aggregate and analyze polling data collectively for better public understanding.
Polls have had good years and bad years; most recently they had an OK year. The number of public polls has risen sharply in recent years.
The New York Times has begun a new effort to track public opinion surveys, starting by collecting all polls on President Trump's job approval.
As one half of the Times/Siena College poll, which has been recognized as one of the country's premier pollsters, we believe there's value in an individual poll.
We hope this project can help provide clarity in a landscape where contradictory findings and loud partisan voices abound.
