Your Party puts support for trans people to a members' vote
"the struggles for the liberation of Palestine, anti-racism, trans liberation, and the struggles of all oppressed people."
"The motion says anti-racism, Palestine, trans liberation, and all of those people, but what about feminists or disabled or countless other people who might want to be mentioned,"
"potential for division."
Your Party, founded by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana, held its inaugural conference and put multiple founding-document amendments to a members' vote. One amendment proposed adding a commitment to fighting for "trans liberation" alongside the struggles for the liberation of Palestine and anti-racism. Approval would affirm an explicit mention of trans people; rejection would remove the only reference to trans people from the founding documents. Delegates were given equal time to debate the amendment on day two. A trans woman named Fring refused to debate on "moral" grounds and urged solidarity with trans and other marginalised communities. Another member warned the amendment had the "potential for division" and questioned selective naming of groups. Organisers asked attendees to remain polite and considerate.
